The scheme of learning supports the study of the novel. The resources contain a range of lessons, tasks and activities designed to develop pupil knowledge and understanding of the historical context, plot, characters, language and themes of John Boyne’s novel. It includes literacy starter activities and develops inference and deduction skills. It encourages empathetic writing, develops character knowledge and understanding and provides opportunities to analyse John Boyne’s use of language. The PowerPoint presentations can be placed on a schools’ own digital platform and pupil encouraged to record their work in google docs or office 365.
